Indira Gandhi Arts & Commerce College, Kalmeshwar was established in 1984 with the prominent efforts of Dr.Madhukarraoji Wasnik, to provide opportunities of higher education for poor’s & rural background students. Today Indira Gandhi Arts & Commerce College, kalmeshwar is one of the well-known colleges of the area.

With the establishment of the college the subjects, Marathi Literature compulsion Marathi B.A. & B.Com. also started. Initiation the college started with 31 students, the forght of the college developed year by year. Now days college is one of the reputed college which is well- known for quality education.

Dr. Zulfi Sheikh wooked as head of the Marathi Department faculty in 1984 after her Dr. Sunil Ramteke was the HOD after him Dr. Hemantkumar Bagde presided as head of Departmnet form 2014 today.
